Craft-etched Seymchan Main Group Pallasite (Surface Find), 2205g | Etching technique record

This is a surface-collected specimen of Seymchan PMG Pallasite (stony-iron meteorite) from Russia, total mass 2205 grams. I completed the full acid pickling with self-formulated custom etchant solution. The whole controlled etching took a very long period: the mixed reagent slowly dissolves limonite weathering crust and altered Fe-Ni layer step by step. I needed frequent observation of corrosion status and constant adjustment of liquid proportion to avoid damaging original kamacite-taenite metal matrix, before naturally exposing intact native olivine crystals locked inside metallic groundmass. Such manual controlled etching has high failure rate and costs plenty of patience.
